Peoria Star 22 Nov 1950 Mrs. Martha Eliza Maynard, 90, former dressmaker, died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Raymond Carr, 206 West Lake Street, Peoria Heights, where she had been living for the past 16 days. For the past three years she had been making her home with her son, William Maynard, at RR No. 1, Dunlap, IL. Born in North Henderson, Ill, on April 9, 1860, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stephens, she married Nelson Maynard in Peoria in 1882. He died in Marion, Ill, in March 1901. Following her husband´s death, Mrs. Maynard moved to Peoria in 1903, wheere she conducted her dressmaking business at her home, 715 North Couglas street, uintil 1947. Suriviving are her son William; two daughters, Mrs. William Johnson of Casper, Wyo., and Mrs. Louis Nichols of Myrtle Creek, Ore., a sister, Mrs. Ella Baker of Los Angeles, Cal., nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
