Person:Martha Ramsey (15)

I have worked on my families’ genealogy sporadically over the years. My mother’s great grandfather was Major Brockman Bastin. This is the first time I found any connection to him. His son John Thomas married Susie Minnick in 1884. It is believed she dies in childbirth. He then married Martha Saphronia Ramsey (b. 8/8/1853 d. 4/17/1926) on December 24, 1888. He died in Gem, Kansas, Nov. 6, 1921, and she died April 17, 1926, Seibert, Colorado. They are both buried in Gem, KS. They had one daughter, Katie Alice. She married my grandfather, Fred Raymond Shults, and had two daughters, Katie Grace and my mother, Pearl Marie. My mother remembers her grandmother, Martha Saphronia, when she lived with them for a short time before her death when they lived in a "soddy" in Colorado. (She was about 3 years old at the time).

I was so excited to find all the information you have gathered about the Bastin family. You gave me 2 more generations. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
