Martha McCartney was born Oct. 30, 1847, in Holmes county. The early part of her life was spent in acquiring an education, graduating from the Fredericksburg high school with honors. She taught school for several years and won the respect and confidence of all her scholars. She was joined in marriage to Henry Munson Nov. 30, 1870, and lived on a farm near Holmesville until 1894 when they removed to Applecreek, Ohio. We merely mention these, events, not that they make up the life of Mrs. Munson, but as incidents gathering about her the hallowed relations and endearing joys through the sixty-four years she was permitted to remain with her friends on earth.

To say that she was a member of the church would only be an intimation of her church life. Only the most faithful to the mid-week prayer service and sanctuary privileges on the Sabbath could bring the best testimony of her loyalty to God and the church. The christian vows meant much to her. She was continually planning the best things for the church and her home. The rich councils to those especially over whom she had control and influence will not be forgotten. They will be as sparkling gems in their meditative moments as the years are counted off. As a wife and companion she was so willing to share with her husband the joys, the sorrows and the losses as they came in, turn to their home and family life. For some time she had been in failing health but her courage was undaunted and the brightness of spirit undimmed until the very last hour of her life which came in the early morning of the 29th of March.

Mrs. Munson has gone from us, her place will not be easily filled; the church will miss her spiritually and socially; the home will miss her in everyway. Her neighbors loved her for her many kind deeds.

She leaves of her immediate friends, an aged mother, a husband, one daughter, three step-sons, brother and sister to mourn their great loss. They will tenderly cherish her memory. May they be led by Him who was the leader and guide of their precious loved one who has gone before. Mr. Munson and family wish to extend their sincere thanks to. Rev's Patterson, McGratli, Shuey and Pastor T. L. McConnell for their kind work and assistance; to the ladies of the church and all others who contributed the beautiful floral offerings; to the singers; to the Fredericksburg friends for the hospitality and accommodations to the funeral party when arriving at that place for the burial service, and to all others who in any way manifested sympathy when friends were most needed.
