She was given the name Ruth when born. Her parents changed her name later.

  1. She was named Ruth on her birth cirtificate, but her parents later decided to call her Martha Louise. She didn't change it legally until sometime in the 1960's when she needed a passport.

    MARION - Martha L. Moore, 88, formerly of Barks Ave., Marion, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at The Kingston Residence in Marion.
    Services will be Monday. July 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, with Lay Pastor Richard S. Mickley officiating. Burial will be at Marion Cemetery.
    Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Family requests memorials be in the form of contributions to Marion Palace Cultural Arts Association or the American Heart Association.
    She was born March 5, 1915 in Beaver Falls, Pa. to Charles A. and Esther V. (Cottam) Curl and married Walter D. Moore on June 14, 1939 in Wooster. He was a long time Marion attorney and died Jan. 6, 2002.
    She grew up in Wooster where she attended public schools and graduated from Wooster College and attended Ohio State University.
    She taught elementary school for Marion County Schools for two years and was a writer for Marion Star and was also a substitute teacher for Marion City Schools.
    She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of Lecture Recital in Marion, Child Conservation League, Junior Service Guild and 30 years service in Twig I. She was a bowler and loved to play golf and performed in the Jr. Service Guild Follies for many years.
    Surviving are a daughter, Kaye (Claude) Coller of Lorain; a granddaughter, Sharon Coller of Lorain; a niece, Susan (Bernie) Campbell of Upper Arlington; a nephew; two grand nephews; a grand niece and a great-grand niece.
    She was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Margaret Moore, a brother, Marquis Curl and two sisters, Margaret Sprunger and Elizabeth McMichael.
