Martha Brown was baptised on 24th May 1761 at Kimpton in Hertfordshire, daughter of Thomas and Ann Brown. She was the sixth of nine children baptised to the couple at Kimpton between 1751 and 1765. There is a fair chance she was the Martha Brown who married at neighbouring St Paul's Walden in 1780, but this is not certain.
