Marjorie Edna Challis was born on 18th May 1909 at Dartford in Kent, daughter of a bricklayer named Bertram Challis and his wife Violet. The 1911 census finds Marjorie living with her parents and two siblings in a four-roomed home at 60 Dartford Road in Dartford.
In 1934, aged 25, Marjorie married Walter Savage. The 1939 Register, taken at the outbreak of the Second World War finds them living together in Dartford. They do not appear to have had any children.
Walter died in 1971, aged 64. Immediately before his death he was living at 1 Priory Close in Dartford. Marjorie survived him by over eighteen years. Immediately before her death she was living at the Broadoak Manor nursing home in Sutton at Hone. She died on 10th March 1990, aged 80.
