Marion Taylor Stamm Herz

Middlebury — Marion Taylor Stamm Herz, formerly of Williamsport, Pa., died on Aug. 22, 2005, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Middlebury.

She was born on May 29, 1918, in Millville, Pa., the daughter of Nellie (Taylor) and Clarence Stamm.

She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1936, and from the Williamsport Commercial College in 1938. She and a group of women successfully worked to bring kindergarten to Williamsport public schools. She was a charter member of the League of Women Voters, active as a Friend of the Library and a member of the Clio Club.

Marion’s many friends and family members will remember her sense of humor and fun, her quick wit, intelligence, incredible style and decorating ability.

Marion was passionate about antiques. She was a dealer for dealer for many years and a regular at auctions throughout the state. Her eclectic taste and knowledge contributed to her fabulous collections.

She is survived by two daughters, Julianne Peddie, and her husband, Donald, of Cornwall, and Lynne Perry and her husband, Renny, of Vergennes; and two granddaughters, Hannah Peddie of San Francisco, Calif., and Rennie Peddie of Miami, Fla.

There will be a graveside committal service for family members on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Millville Cemetery. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Peter Herdic House, 407 West 4th Street, Williamsport, Pa., for friends and family.

Marion’s family would like to thank the staff at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care, humor and grace.
