    Marion's father Dr. Amos Lawrence Mason, was born at Salem, Mass April 20,1842 and was married in Boston on Sept 30, 1874 to Louisa Blake Steedman, daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Steedman USN and Sarah Bishop Steedman, they had a daughter:Marion Steedman Mason, who was born at Prides Crossing, Beverly, Mass., July 17, 1875 and married at Emmanuel Church Boston, Mass., March 11, 1902, to Richard Thornton Wilson Jr., of New York, son of Richard Thornton and Clementine Johnston Wilson. He was born Sept 11, 1866, obtained his early education at schools in New York, and graduated from Columbia University in 1887. He is a banker by profession, and has held the office of commissioner of municipal statistics of New York. Residences in New York, Newport, RI., and May River Bluff, South Carolina.

    Dr. Amos Lawrence Mason is a descendent of General John Mason, born in England about the year 1600; trained as a soldier in the Dutch Netherlands; emigrated to Dorchester, Mass., about 1630, thence to Connecticut, where he served with distinction in the war against the Pequot Indians; appointed major-general of the Connecticut forces and deputy of the colony and historian of the Pequot Indian War.
