Marie D. Winans
CORTLAND - Marie D. Winans, 96, 349 N. Mecca St., died Saturday at 1:25 p.m. in Glenview Manor Nursing Home in Mineral Ridge.
She was born June 15, 1901, in Geneva, Ind., a daughter of the late George W. and Fannie E. (Macy) Daugherty, and lived in Cortland for 77 years, moving from Greene Township.
A seamstress, Mrs. Winans retired in 1962 from Howard Shields in Warren, where she had worked 25 years.
She was a member of Cortland Christian Church, Wagon Wheel Trailer Club and a 7th Degree, 76 year member of the Grange.
Her husband, Aylmer Winans, whom she married june 23, 1921, died Dec. 27, 1973.
She leaves a son, Dr. Carl Winans of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter Mrs. Merle (Reta) Mizner of Vernon; a sister, Edna Kaderly of Portland, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Two sons; three brothers; and three sisters are deceased.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday in Shafer-Winans Funeral Home in Cortland, where friends may call one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery in Greene Township. Material contributions can be made to the church.
