Obituary

Monticello -- Marian B. Yockey, age 79, of Monticello, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, with Steve Ingram and Gregory Swango officiating.  Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday April 4, 2008, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.

Marian was born July 2, 1928, near Seymour, the youngest of 12 children born to George and Media (Patterson) Wittig.  She married Lyle C. Yockey on March 4, 1947, in Monticello.  He passed away on Aug. 5, 1986.

She is survived by five children, L. Duane (Carolyn) Yockey of Normal, Brenda (Roger) Wisegarver of Sun Prarie, Wis., Barbara (Michael) Lucas of Riverton, David Yockey of Monticello and Bonnie (Gregory) Swango of Decatur; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George "Slim" Wittig of Monticello and Ray Wittig of Champaign; and three sisters, Pauline Whitehouse of Monticello, Margarite Elder of Champaign, and Catherine "Kitty" Benson of White Heath.

She was preceded by four brothers and two sisters.

She was a cook at DeLand Grade School in DeLand and Washington Grade School in Monticello.  She was also a cook at the Monticello High School for 22 years.

She was baptized at DeLand Christian Church on her 12th birthday and was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.
