Maria Truax was constantly in trouble with the authorities, and was finally banished from New Amsterdam in 1664, for shady business dealings and keeping a disorderly tavern. She was prosecuted for selling brandy to the Indians on 30 December 1663 at New Amsterdam, New York County, New York.
