Grandmother Margarete Petrie Reitz died in 1902 and is also buried in the cemetery in Fond du Lac County. She raised her children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and even on her death bed she was concerned about the spiritual welfare of her children's children. As she felt her end approaching she asked for each family to come at certain times. Then she called each child separately to her bedside and laid her hand on it, blessed it, and gave it an admonition to always remain true to Jesus. This remains an unforgetable experience for those of us who were so remembered and blessed. Truly " the generation of the upright shall be blessed."

These people could not long do without regular church services. So, before too long, a congregation was established, a church built, and a pastor called. This was, and still is, a congregation of the Wisconsin Synod of the Lutheran church. A parochial school was connected with the congregation.
