Facts and Events
Name Marcy Thames
Alt Name Mercy _____
Gender Female
Birth[1] Abt 1734 pos Craven Co., North Carolina
Marriage to James Jackson
Death[1] 1816 Cumberland Co., North Carolina

The location of Marcy's birth remains uncertain. The following quote about her father Thomas was found at http://gen.culpepper.com/ss/p47288.htm. "Thomas relocated circa 1749 at Bladen Co., North Carolina; Thomas & Prudence Thames with their family came to Bladen Co. from Craven Co. NC by 1750 and bought land there. There is a court record of Thomas Thems in Craven Co. as late as 1748."

The date of death in the Bible record appears to have been written by Marcy's (unnamed) grandchild.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Jackson::thames::487.html: Core Sound Meeting Society of Friends, Core Sound Monthly Meeting page 276 Thems, 1738, 10, __ Marcy's cert read in mtg. (This record does not belong to the Marcy of this profile because she would have only been 4 years old.)

Marcy Thems was the daughter of Thomas & Prudence Thems and is named in the 1758 Bladen Co. Will of Thomas. Her name has been misread in Deed & Will abstracts as Mercy, Mary, Martha, Marshea and even Nancy. You must get a microfilm copy of the Will from the Archives in NC the abstracts aren't accurate. Marcy or Mercy Thames married James Jackson of this often-quoted deed - Bladen Co. DB 23, pg 339 - 29 Oct 1768 - James Jackson & wife Marshea of Cumberland to William Maultsby, Carpenter, for etc. Marshea is Marcy Thames Jackson the daughter of Thomas Thames. James Jackson and his wife both left wills.

The following information copied from genforum site, written by researcher Walter Gabennesch at http://genforum.genealogy.com/t/thames/messages/522.html. A later typo correction found at http://genforum.genealogy.com/thames/messages/523.html The corection appears to change the citation from May to March, adding that the will was proved in April term 1758. The will of THOMES THAMES at Bladen Co., North Carolina, on 6 May (sic) 1758; Will of Thomas Themes, 6 May (sic)1758, Bladen Co., NC, Will Book 2, p 463: "To my loving wife Prudence Themes one Hundred acres of Land Being the plantation where I now Live Etc.
