Mae Ella (Ellenbolt) Tayek

Mae Ella (Ellenbolt) Tayek was born May 14, 1982, in Cox Creek Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Retus R. and Mary Ann (O'Leary) Ellenbolt. She was baptized Jan. 6, 1941, and confirmed June 1, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Pastor Siefkes. She received her education at Pleasant Ridge (Klima) School. On May 8, 1912, she was united in marriage to Frank Thomas Tayek at Marquette, Iowa. To this union two sons were born. She and Frank farmed until 1942 when they moved to Monona. She was a member of St. Paul's Church. She and Frank worked at Corner Cafe for many years. She loved to work in her garden and since she became a resident of the Great River Care Center, McGregor, five years ago, she kept a garden there. She died Sunday, March 10, 1985, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Frank, who died August 6, 1975, her son Leo on October 14, 1940, 4 brothers, Stewart, Peter, Fred T. and Roy, 2 sisters, Helen, an infant, and Ruth Haugen.

Surviving is her son Donald, his wife Marcella of Monona; 4 grandchildren, Maxine Johnson, Marquette, Roger, Marion, Ia., Maryls Kaiser, Outlook, Saskatchewan, Canada, Ronald, New London, Wisc.; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mae E. Tayek

MONONA, Iowa -- Mae E. Tayek, 92, of the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa, formerly of Monona, died Sunday at Prairie du Chien (Wis.) Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 11 am Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, with burial in Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 pm Tuesday at the Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, where the prayer service will be at 7:30 pm Tuesday.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1975 and a son Leo in 1940.

Surviving are a a son, Donald, of Monona, and four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
