Lisbon--Mrs. Tom (Mabel C.) Thompson, 98, a resident of Morris Lincoln Nursing Home and formerly of Lisbon, died Monday morning Sept 12, 1994, at the Morris Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the West Lisbon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rob Lewis officiating. Burial will be in West Lisbon Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fruland Funeral Home.
Born Feb 20, 1896, in Big Grove Township, Kendall County, she was a daughter of William and Carrie (Hackerson) Hoge.
She received her education in rural Kendall County schools.
On Sept 21, 1918, she married Tom Thompson at West Lisbon Parsonage. All their married life was spent in the Lisbon area. In 1980 she moved to Morris.
Surviving are four sons, Everett (Lillian) Thompson, Russell (Maxine) Thompson, Milton (June) Thompson, and Alden (Alice) Thompson, all of Morris; three daughters, Betty (Eugene) Hatteberg of Lisbon, Marge (Ronald Johnson of rural Morris, and Donna (Tom) Thorson, rural Morris; 19 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Esther Richards of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1960; four sisters, Ella Ness, Julia Thompson, Bertha Hall, and one in infancy; one brother, Tom Hoge; and one grandson Michael Johnson in 1976.
She was a member of the West Lisbon Lutheran Church.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the West Lisbon Lutheran Church Building Fund, the Mark Johnson SIM Ministerial Fund; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
