Capt. Jonathan Putnam [#28] m. (2) Lydia, d/o Anthony Potter and Elizabeth (?Whipple?) of Ipswich. Her will dated 14 Sep 1742, proved 8 Apr 1745, mentions daughters Elizabeth and Ester, administration granted to John Porter of Wenham.
[Elizabeth's will appears to expose two errors by Putnam in this source: 1) Putnam shows daughter Elizabeth d. 1728, and he shows son David not dying until 1760. The first is clearly in conflict with the will and in fact, VR Salem show it was the granddaughter Elizabeth, d/o Jonathan Jr., that died in 1728, while VR Wenham show John Porter marrying Elizabeth Putnam in 1708 which must be the daughter, since John Porter was granted administration. As for the second, it is possible the mother didn't mention a living son, though unlikely, and all other unmentioned children are indeed dead at the time of the will. So, again, Putnam appears to have confused a child of Lydia and her husband Jonathan with a like-named child of their son Jonathan, namely attributing to deceased son David attributes belonging to grandchild David).]
