[Note: Some comments on the coverage of Lydia:
    p. 28: settlement included "the widow of his deceased son James". All I read in the file is a document that mentions the "heirs" of James. No mention of widow seen. There may be a separate agreement of heirs than the judge's decree found in the probate file, but none appeared in the file, nor in a scan of Middlesex deeds.
    p. 61: "Lydia survived her husband and was living in 1767 when her father-in-law mentioned in his will the widow of his deceased son James. There is no record of either her marriage of her death", citing Pierce above. Pierce says nothing about any of this, as can be seen from the citation above which shows all the detail he gives, and it appears to be an elaboration on the above comment, which is already suspect. The father-in-law died intestate by 1765, not 1767, and had no will. It may well be that Lydia lived until 1767 or later, but there is no obvious evidence in the probate file, and her children are represented by a guardian Hugh Maxwell, not her.]
