Luther simplified the spelling of his name from Teerpenning to Terpening. In 1900, they lived in Barry County, Luther was 43, Ella, 31. The children were "Lottie, 15, Royal, 14, Lloyd, 13, Laura 10, Elmer 8, Pearl 6, Maggie 4, Dora & Ora, both 2, and Levi, 11 months.
