The Daily Times-News on Friday, July 01, 1966 L. L. ISLEY Sr. Of Friendship Section Dies Luther Lafayette (Bill) ISLEY 73, of Rt. 6, Burlington, died at 5 o'clock this morning after one year of falling health. He was a native of Alamance County and a prominent farmer of the Friendship Community. He was the son of the late Dr. W. L. and Lula Huffines ISLEY. A member of Friendship Methodist Church, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the church. He was a superintendent, of buildings and grounds at Guilford College from 1925 to 1939. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.. Mary Huffines ISLEY; four daughters, Mrs.. Rebecca ISLEY and Mrs.. Sarah Maude Foster of Guilford College, Mrs.. Mary Lou Windsor of Winston Salem and Miss Betty Ruth ISLEY of the home; one son, Luther L. ISLEY Jr.. of Rt. 6, Burlington; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, B. R. ISLEY of St. Petersburg, Fla., W. Gladston Isley of Rt. 6, Burlington, and J. H. ISLEY of Fayetteville. Final rites will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Friendship Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. J. C. Staton, former pastor, assisted by the Rev. W. S. Hopkins, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.
