BIOGRAPHY: She lived the greater part of her life in Deerfield, IL, attended a local grade school, a High School in Colorado Springs, CO as well as Carl Schurz H.S. in Chicago, where she grad. in 1905. An Aunt Bessie [Bessie Otto Milton] Goodfellow wrote a letter to Lura, dated 30 Jan 1903, who is the wife of Lura's Uncle Milton Goodfellow, i.e., her mother's [Rose DavissonGoodfellow] brother. Lura grad. from U. of I. in 1909. She taught school in Portage, Columbia Co., WI for the 1909-1910 school year [1910 Directory for Columbia Co., WI, lists under Portage, on p. 65: 'Parsons, Laura, school teacher, 215 E. Franklin'. This house was photographed in October 2002. Under the information on page 21 for Portage, the following appears: "Portage High School, W.G. Clough, Supt. & Prin.; assistants ..... Laura E. Parsons ...." note the incorrect first name spelling in both entries]. Jeremy Jordan has a copy of the State of WI Special License #3021, issued on 29 Oct 1909 to allow her to teach in any public school in WI. Her name is correctly shown on that license. She Then taught in Assumption, Christian Co., IL, having a contract [in possession of Jeremy Jordan], for 8-1/2 months starting on 5 Sep 1910. Listed as Lura Parsons in 1900 Fed Census for West Deerfield Twp., Lake Co., IL, Dist. 144, 6/7 Jun 1900, age 16, b. Sep 1883, single. Listed as Lura E. Parsons in 1910 Fed Census for Hagerman Precinct, Lincoln Co. [now Gooding Co.] Idaho, [no enumeration district or date shown on image], age 26, single, living with her parents. Note: Gooding County was created in 1913 from Lincoln County. Listed as Lura E. Jordan in 1920 Fed. Census for West Deerfield Twp., Lake Co., IL, enumerated on 12 Jan 1920, age 36, b. IL. Listed as Lura E. Jordan in 1930 Fed. Census for Deerfield, Lake, IL, Dist 49-17, enumerated on 8 Apr 1930, age 45, b. IL, age 27 when married. She was active in the communities of Deerfield and Highland Park, Illinois and a member of the DAR.

DEATH: She died of spinal meningitis on the day that her first grandchild, Jeremy H. Jordan, was born.
