Lum Lillian never married. She received her formal education in the Elementary School and the High School where she graduated . For several years she worked for her brother-in-law, William "Willie" Winn in the Irvington Flour Mill in Irvington, KY. Lum moved to Louisville for a while where she was employed by the Stewart Clothing Store. She was burned to death in her apartment in Louisville on March 23, 1977. She was buried in Irvington, KY.
