In 1777 at Fishkill on the Hudson commanded his Co. (Col. Baldwin's regt.) also at surrender of Burgoyne. After the war res. in Cheshire until within a few years of his d. He had the entire confidence of the community and shared largely in its offices and responsibilities. He was a consistent mem. of the Cong, chh. in C. 72 years, and was a firm believer in the religion of Christ. He built the Episcopal Acad. in C.
