    "923.10. Lucius Tuttle, b. Cheshire. Conn., April 29, 1749; early in the war entered the service of his country as Lieut. of his Co.; was at Boston and at battle of Long Island. In 1777 at Fishkill on the Hudson commanded his Co. (Col. Baldwin's regt.) also at surrender of Burgoyne. After the war res. in Cheshire until within a few years of his d. He had the entire confidence of the community and shared largely in its offices and responsibilities. He was a consistent mem. of the Cong, chh. in C. 72 years, and was a firm believer in the religion of Christ. He built the Episcopal Acad. in C. He d. at the house of his son Lucius in Wolcott, Conn., June 27, 1746. a. 97 yrs. 2 mos.; m. Dec. 4, 1773, Hannah, dau. of Lieut. Andrew Hull of C., … He m. (2) Sept. 29, 1805, Mary Atwater of Cheshire."
