Louis T. Holub,74, of rural Prairieburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, in his home after an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prairieburg, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a vigil service begins at 4 p.m. Surviving are three sons, Tom, Rick and Blaine Holub, all of Monticello; and his mother, Elizabeth Holub of Anamosa. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Jerry) Ray of Anamosa, Mary Margaret Townsend of Cedar Rapids and Viola Finn of Cascade. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; and his wife, Bernice. Louis Thomas Holub was born March 30, 1925, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Lawrence Holub. He received his education in Frozen Hill School, Buffalo Township. Louis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Bernice Finn on June 13, 1949, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill. The couple farmed in Buffalo Township, Linn County, Iowa. Bernice preceded him in death on March 26, 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and VFW. Louis appreciated the comfort and smiles from the many friends and relatives who visited him during his illness. He especially appreciated Zola and the rest of the nurses from St. Luke's Hospice.
