Loraine Davis was the closest sister in age to Gladys. She was 2 years older. Loraine told us about coming to Dallas with Gladys when she was 15. (Their mother and father and some of their siblings had all died in the flu epidemic in Oklahoma.) They found a room to stay in and then went to a manufacturing company to try to get a job. The waiting room was filled with applicants, but after they interviewed, she and Gladys got the two jobs that were available. She also told about walking to town from their room to go to the midnight movie at one of the downtown theaters. She later married Wesley Bert Thompson in 1930 and they had two daughters--Geraldine and Patricia Ann.
