HINTON, Iowa -- Lloyd E. Tullis, 80, of Hinton died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Sunrise Retirement Home in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Kathy Olson of Danbury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mr. Tullis was born March 16, 1922, on his parents' farm in rural Merrill, Iowa, the son of William and Gertrude (Van Dyke) Tullis. He graduated from Liberty Township country school (Plymouth County) in 1939.

He married Marguerite Nitz on Sept. 30, 1948, at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. He farmed in the Hinton area all his life.

He was a 4-H leader, Little League coach, a field representative and county committee officer for Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS) and was a Dekalb-Pfizer Genetics Seed Corn Dealer from 1968 to 1998. He was an avid fisherman and a high school and college sports fan.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce Tullis and his wife, Cathy of Merrill, and Kieth Tullis and Paul Tullis, both of Hinton; a sister, Mona Lund of Michigan City, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Monica Tullis of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Warren Tullis, Tom Tullis, Dan Nelson, Dwight Petzoldt and Donald Petzoldt.
