Thelma C. Higgins, 94 of Sullivan, passed away at 2:50AM Saturday October 30, 2010 at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital. She was born in Veedersburg, Indiana November 4, 1915 the daughter of Thomas J. Chatt and Mabel Blanche Ramsey Chatt. Thelma was a member of the First Christian Church in Sullivan, a member of the Eastern Star in Sullivan and Hillsboro. Her and her husband Donald owned and operated Higgins 5 & 10 Variety Stores in Veedersburg, Indiana and Chatsworth, Illinois for over 30 years. After retirement she also volunteered at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital and the Sullivan Library. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald R. Higgins in 1996, three brothers, Lawrence Chatt, John Chatt and Ronald Chatt, two sisters, Mary Harmless, Sarah Johns, and two nephews, Michael Johns, and Gary Harmless. Survivors include one daughter, Donna, two brothers, Rodrick and James, one sister, Lyle, two grandchildren, Katrina and Travis, and several nieces and nephews.
