L Grace Schade graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and served as a RN in Portland until 1915. She moved to Medford with her husband and daughter in 1918. She was a member of the Ascension Lutheran church and a life member of the Medford Ladies of Elks and a member of Daughters of the Civil War Union Veterans.
