    Lillie A. Elliott
Died. --At her home in Mt. Ida April 16th, 1893.
Deceased was born August 27th, 1872. She leaves a father, mother, and two sisters to mourn her loss; and one brother and one sister have gone before her to the spirit world. Miss Lillie received the chief portion of her education at the Gap school house where she was also employed as teacher for two terms. After this she taught on term in the West. On her return home she attended school at Fennimore, where she had hoped to graduate next June. Miss Lillie was diligent student, a true and loving daughter, a faithful friend, and we have reason to believe, a devout Christian.
Coming to Fennimore last September, she went into the prayer meeting on Thursday evening and at the close gave to the pastor her name, with the request "I want to join your church" and from that time forward showed evidence of true devotion to the cause she had. During the teacher’s examination in this village she caught the measles, this was followed by some brain trouble and death is the result.
About a week before her death she said: Mother, I am not going to get well, the Lord doth call me home. I am ready to go: and when I die sing " safe in the arms of Jesus."
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Harris, of Fennimore, at Mt. Ida M. E. church, in presence of a deeply afflicted congregation, for the family have the deep felt sympathy of the community to this their greet affliction; and it is the prayer of the writer that the sustaining grace of God may be their portion.
