Leroy was born before his parents were married, and was not living with them in the 1900 census (when his mother indicated that she had borne no children). However, his birth record^[3] (which does not appear to be a delayed registration) lists Emerson Oldham and Maude L. York as his parents. He was living with Emerson and Maude Oldham in the 1910 census, at which time his age was given as 12^[6] (supporting the fact that he was born before 1900).
