    LEONARD MENTRUM A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Leonard Mentrum, who died Oct. 4 at age 83. Mr. Mentrum was born June 19, 1914 in Spokane. He moved to Portland as a child and graduated from Franklin High School in 1933. In 1936, he married Mary Allyn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked 25 years for the U.S. Postal Service and eight years for Pearson Allen Mortuary. He was a deacon of Englewood Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, daughter, Marilyn A. Batey of Milwaukee, son, Bayard A. "Larry" of Portland; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Internment will be in Willamette National Cemetery.
