From the February 8, 1942, edition of the Benton Harbor (MI) News-Palladium Six Persons Car Victims In Toll Of Lives In Michigan For Week-End Lansing Contributes Three (By Associated Press) Automobile accidents killed at least six persons in Michigan over the week-end LANSING -- Three men were fatally injured and two others critically injured in highway mishaps here Saturday. John Campbell, 43, of Eaton Rapids, and Leonard J. Donovan, 25, of Lansing, were killed in a head-on collision of two cars on the Eaton Rapids road. Richard Lorichon, 24, of Charlotte, and Francis Stemp, 24, of Lansing, suffered critical injuries. George Duschene, 40, of Baraga, died in St. Lawrence hospital after being struck near Williamston by an automobile driven by Melvin Elliott, 18, of Williamston. FLINT -- Roy W. Epling, 23, Selfridge Field soldier from Taylor, S.C., was fatally injured in an automobile collision Saturday. YPSILANTI -- Policeman Ford M. Baker of Detroit suffered fatal injuries and eight other persons were hurt, three seriously, in an automobile collision here Sunday. DETROIT -- John LaPrairie, 57, of Detroit, was killed Saturday when his automobile skidded into a utility pole. |
