Mrs. S T King Dies in Memphis Hospital

Mrs. S T King, prominent and beloved woman of Chickasaw county, died Saturday afternoon in a Memphis hospital, following an operation performed several weeks ago.

Mrs. King, who was Miss Leona Kimball, was born in Houston more than fifty years ago. Her mother died when she was a very small child and she lived with her aunt, Mrs. Sally Smith, in Houston, with the exception of a short time spent in Mobile after her father's second marriage.

Nearly thirty years ago she was married to S T King, influential planter of Buena Vista.

It was there that her labor for the building up of both her home and community was outstanding. She was a devoted and sacrificing mother and wife. Given to hospitality, Mrs. King made an ideal hostess, making her home a place where friends loved to assemble.

With all her numerous duties, she never turned a deaf ear to the activities of the Baptist Church, of which she was a lifelong member, or to any thing which was for the interest of the community. Many were her deeds of philanthropy, though few she ever made know—being modest and not seeking praise.

During her lingering illness she remained cheerful and reconciled to the incurable malady, patiently awaiting the end, thinking always of others.

The body reached Buena Vista early Sunday morning, accompanied by John Edgar Hill, funeral director, and members of her family who had been called to her bedside.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon in the home in Buena Vista. Rev. Hugh Collins officiating, and interment following in the Houston cemetery. The numerous and lovely floral offerings manifested the affection with which she was held throughout the vicinity.

Mrs. King leaves, besides her husband, four daughters and one son, Misses Frances, Grace, Corinne, and Lucile, and Sam King, Jr., and two step children, Mrs. Ellie Glass, and Mr. Howard King, of Moorhead.
