Laurence has always been known as Pop. Pop worked for many years with Transport Wairarapa as a driver. In that time he also worked on a mail run.

With the marriage separation Pop's mother Eileen came to live with him and looked after the three children.

Leaving the trucks Pop then drove a taxi for his brother Rue in Silverstream Upper Hutt. It was at that time that he moved from Masterton to Silverstram renting out the Kummer Cres House.

He returned from Upper Hutt and got a Job with Carter Holt timber yard by the Waihine Bridge at South Masterton.

Pop sold the Masterton House in 1990 and purchased a house at Bay View Napier. In 1996 He sold the house and purchased a house in Napier.
