- According to Source:May, Samuel Pearce. Descendants of Richard Sares (Sears) of Yarmouth, Mass., 1638-1888, p. 14, Source:Sears, Edmund H. Genealogies and Biographical Sketches of the Ancestry and Descendants of Richard Sears, the Pilgrim identified Knyvet Sears as the oldest son of Richard, b. 1635, d. 1686. This is directly contradicted by the 1667 will and 1676 codicil of Richard, which both calling son Paul his eldest son at a time when Knyvet is supposed to be alive. Samuel May adds, "Neither the name of Knyvet Sares, or Elizabeth Dymoke his wife, is to be found in colony, town, church or court records, nor any gravestone to either."
