  1. Some very sad news to pass along. Kenneth Jordan, Kirks oldest child from his first marriage, has passed away. He was 46. He was diagnosed with ALS, (Lou Gehrigs Disease), some time back, I think in the last twelve months. It is the same disease that Kirk was diagnosed with before he died in the car accident. He had a fairly troubled life. When he was 15, he was out joyriding in a stolen car and was shot by the police in Odessa, Texas. He nearly bled to death, but survived. A few years ago, while working in a restaurant/bar as a bouncer, he was attacked and his leg was severly broken and never really healed properly causing him to use a cane to get around. In an e-mail from Carol, she said that she and her husband Rich had been going to San Diego to see him every weekend for the last two months. After Kenny had made contact with Kirk several years ago, Carol decided that he was family and was to be treated as such. Such a wonderful person to do that when she has her hands full of her own problems. There will be some kind of memorial service in a week or so. His body was donated so that scientists could study it. I never made an attempt to keep in touch with him, nor did he with me. The last time I saw him was at Kirk's funeral. When his mother died some years back, I sent an e-mail and a snail mail card to him and there was no response. When he was growing up, Kirk never really had any kind of visitation rights. Kenny's mother held back on letting Kirk see the boys, and Kirk would withhold the child support payments and then she would promptly have him thrown in jail until he paid up. I think Kenny was probably in his thirties before any contact was made between him and Kirk. I am sorry he has passed and relieved that he does not have to suffer from such a debilitating disease any longer.
