Kendall Nichols left his estate to, Mary his widow and to be divided between his children, Kendall and Abigail, at the time of his widow’s death. Edmund Townsend and Nathan Luther took and inventory valued at £1199:11. On February 1, 1768, Mary Nichols declared the estate insolvent, with known claims totaling £7850:03. "The Newport Mercury" announced the sale of “The real Estate of Kendall Nichols, Esq; late of Newport, deceased, consisting of several Houses, Shops, Stores, &c. which will be sold together, or separate, as shall best suit the Purchaser.”
