Age 8 he was recorded as a witness to the stone laying ceremony of the Beechen Cliff Methodist Church, his father being the Church Steward of Hope Chapel, a Wesleyan Methodist Association chapel in Lower Borough Walls. [1]. Kedgwin was also present at the church's 75th anniversary in 1982.
