This community was saddened by the death of one of its most beloved citizens, Mrs. Katie Hamilton, known affectionately as "Aunt Kate" to hundreds of friends, who passed away peacefully and quietly at her home at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon of the past week. All of her children and her two grandchildren, together with the brothers and sister, were at her bedside when the end came. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Kaufman County and had lived at Prairieville for the past twenty years. She was born May 10, 1860, professed Christ as her Saviour in early life and was a devoted servant in His cause to the last. Besides a host of friends, she leaves three sons, Ancil and Mark Hamilton of Prairieville, and Tom Hamilton, a teacher in Denton schools; a daughter, Miss Jennie Hamilton, also of Prairieville; two brothers, George Walker of Lufkin and John Walker of Kaufman and a sister, Mrs. Jodie Burns of Kaufman.
