KATIE BROWN (1869 - 1888)

Died at Ladies Seminary at South Bend, Indiana. Her mother, Mrs. Edward Brown, had received only a short notice of her daughter's dangerous illness, and accompanied by Mr. T. Hickson and Miss Molly Jones, left for the bedside of her only child. But the summons came too late and ere the fond mother arrived at South Bend the spirit of her beloved daughter had passed peacefully to that happier home without a mother's fond farewell.

The Sisters in charge of the school done everything in their power to assuage her grief. (Much more regarding how she was esteemed, etc.) She was 19 years of age and was a young lady of more than ordinary intelligence. Her death was caused by congestion of the brain, superinduced by hard study and an unusually active mind of which she was the possessor.

Mrs. Burke of LeMars, sister of Mrs. Brown, and Mr. James Brown of Council Bluffs, brother of the deceased father of the young lady, and also of the late Maurine Brown, have been summoned by telegraph.
