Graduated from McMaster Unversity, Hamilton, taught school for a number of years, but with the increasing problem with discipline of teen-aged pupils, left teaching for secretarial work at the Y.W.C.A., then in the office of Centenary United Church, Hamilton. For a few years she survived surgery for abdominal cancer but died of this disease, aged 55. She had not married but stayed home to look after her mother, Katie Hicks Reynolds. She had been jilted by the man to whom she was engaged and who went away for post graduate study.
