LEVESQUE, Josiah and Elizabeth [fl. 1839-75]. London piano manufacturers. In 1840 both Mrs Elizabeth Levesque and J Levesque were listed as proprietors and makes at 8 Haberdasher Walk, Hoxton. [Pugot 39 and Rob 40] Thus it is unclear which of the two was the actual maker and which the business partner.
In 1844 the firm were listed as Levesque, Edmeades & Co. They were located at 8 Haberdasher Walk, Horton, from 1844 to 1848. The firm's later addresses were 40 Cheapside from 1848 to 1857; 63 Fleet Street from 1858 to 1862; 14 New Gloucester Terrace, Hoxton, in 1854, 55 Essex Street, Hoxton, from 1855 to 1870; and 63 Fleet Street from 1858 to 1862. The Levesques' precise relationship to Edmeades has not been clarified. [Harding/PIANO, 415; Parkinson/VICT, 162] See also EDMEADES, William, & Co. Google Books - Makers of the Piano
