"60. Josiah3 King was born Aug. 27, 1693, in Northampton and died Mar. 15, 1788, in Suffield, Conn. On Jan. 21, 1724, he married Mindwell Burt who was born Nov. 22, 1700, in Northampton and died Feb. 15, 1788, in Suffield a daughter of Jonathan & Mindwell (Taylor) Burt. Josiah was a cordwainer and resided in Northampton. He served in the Indian war known as Father Rale's War, first as Corporal in a company of Militia under Capt. Samuel Bernard from July 24 to Nov. 20, 1722, second as Clerk of Capt. Joseph Kellogg's company from Nov. 20, 1723 to May 19, 1724, and later as Sergeant in it from May 19, 1725, to Jan. 5, 1726. In 1725, he removed to Northfield, Mass., where he bought the homestead of Benoni Craft, and a few years later to Suffield where his daughters were favorably noted as 'the King girls of Suffield.' His children were Lydia, Elizabeth, Phebe, Joseph [error for Josiah], Mindwell, Seth, Experience, and Rhoda King."
