104-282. Josiah Richardson Bigelow (more generally known as "Josiah Bigelow"), son of Jotham and Mary (Richardson) Biglow, was born in Holden, Mass., April 17, 1754, and when he was but a child his father moved to Guilford, Vt.; he married Sarah Culver, daughter of David Culver of Guilford. They lived for many years in Guilford, and on March 10, 1800, he moved to Pompey, N.Y., where he bought 590 acres of land of Samuel Beebe, and with his boys he proceeded to clear up the land. In three years' time he had cleared 100 acres, when he was taken down with the fever incident to the newly settled country, and died Dec. 17, 1803. His death resulted in the breaking up of the family, and about two years later his widow died, and was buried at Pompey.
