Joshua Osgood Son of Joshua and Ruth Osgood: was born: ye: 13th day of April, 1724-5.
[If the baptism cited above is close to a birth, it would rule out another child in April 1725. There is an additional problem in that dates in April don't need double-dating as is used here, indicating some sort of confusion either at the recording or interpreting this date. Third, it is in a set of records of several children from this family, which indicates it was recorded sometime after the last date in the group, which was 1729. On the other hand, the baptism appears to in the order recorded, leaving little doubt about the year intended. If we assume the birth was actually Apr 1724, the six months from April to November is a little longer than normal after birth to baptize a child. On p. 271, Joshua Osgood & Ruth his wife are admitted to church, which explains why they did not baptize their son until Nov. 15. For all these reasons, it is assumed the birth actually occurred in April 1724.]
