- ↑ Both the Bolton and Uxbridge VRs cite Quaker records in showing the birth of Joseph in 1796 and again in 1798, and then the death of Joseph after the 1798 birth. Source:Wheeler, Albert Gallatin. Genealogical and Encyclopedic History of the Wheeler Family in America, p. 360, applies the death date to the first Joseph, even though this makes the second Joseph born before the first one dies, and makes no sense. So either one of the births is a corrupted version of the first, and the only Joseph died young, or one death date was not recorded, and both Josephs died young? The later is most consistent with what the records literally say.
