Joseph Linsley (3 Johns) He was born Nov 28 1707 in old Branford and later moved to 'Northford' where he was a farmer as his ancestors. … Joseph held a Lieutenant's Commission in the British army from the King. … Joseph was the first Linsley to settle in this new part of Branford, which in 1831 was incorporated as 'North Branford' town and had two settlements, the one at Northford, and one at North Branford, several miles apart. … Joseph died 1 Jan 1786, aged 77, … tombstones are in the Northford Cemetery."
