- The Find A Grave memorial for Joseph has some errors, and may well be all wrong. It gives a birth of Haverhill 9 Jun 1743, a death of Wendell 22 Sep 1786, all based on unknown sources, as there is no picture. The lack of gravestone is unusual in that his wife's gravestone is pictured on her memorial. One can only wonder, if they could photograph hers, why they could not photograph his. The intuitive answer is that they could not, because it was not there.
The death is definitely wrong, as the Wendell records on 22 Sep 1786 (here, p. 261) is for Joseph Johnson's child. His wife Hannah's death record calls her wife of Joseph Johnson, not widow, and the family register on 36 shows a child born to them in 1788. They appear to be living in Wendell in 1800 census (1 male over 45, 1 female over 45), but not after that.
The marriage intentions for Joseph and Hannah call them both of Lancaster. How he was identified as a person born in Haverhill is unknown, but seems unlikely. Given the hit to credibility the error with the death record represents, one must conclude this identification of Joseph has no basis in evidence either.
