Facts and Events
[edit] Joseph Howe in New England"Joseph1 How (Edward2), probably born in England. While we have no absolute proof, it would seem to be quite probable that this Joseph How was the son of Edward How of Lynn, and that he came to this country at a later date. He was in Lynn as early as 1640, and married Elizabeth Needham, daughter of Edmund Needham of Lynn. This was proven by his will, and the will of Edmund Needham. We learn from the records of the Salem Quarterly Court, 25-11-1641, that Joseph How agreed to go to sea. "We were the first boat that went out, and had the first of fishing. Then other boats went, but the fourth had little or no employment." John Stone, Wm. Harper, Jeremiah Howe (probably his brother), Francis Perry and Joseph Pope also deposed. His widow married second, Samuel Hart. The mother mentioned [in his will] was probably the widow of Edward How of Lynn. An Inventory of his estate was taken 8-1-1650-1, and amounted to £107-10-8."[3] References
