Confederate Soldier, served in Infantry and Cavalry. Inducted into the Montgomery Volunteers 12th regiment, Company D, Louisiana Infantry Discharged Nov 1862 Reenlisted in Clarks Cavalry. His brother Isom died from Typhoid Fever in a Union Hospital in Michigan. His father Samuel Hilburn served with Gray's 28th.

He married Sarah Wilson either in Jackson or Winn Parish. Unfortunately records from both parishes burned for this time peroid.
