Joseph Jackson Hammack was one of several farmers that contributed to the development of the Coleman areas. For years Kate Lorraine Sutton (Mrs Joseph Jackson Hammack) and William David Hammack II shipped peaches from their orchards to eastern markets. They loaded at Shanty. The Central Georgia ran 4 times a day.
